Teenage spies. It only takes those two simple words for thousands
of clichés to be immediately presented to the average person. Every
book you've ever read, ever movie you've ever seen, in everything
you've ever heard quote, the one thing they always say is that no one
ever suspects a child. Or a teenager, for that matter. Guess what? They're
wrong. Hardened criminals learn to suspect anyone and everyone. It
doesn't matter that you're young, that you're pretty, that you're seemingly
innocent. But honestly, since when has the government ever listened to
what anyone else thinks? They think otherwise. They think that criminals
can be lulled into thinking that the pretty teenager who always seems to
be behind them is nothing more than an innocent bystander. The other
thing that they forget is that when you're a criminal, the lives of innocent
bystanders tend to mean less than your safety.
Welcome to our world. It's not exactly a safe one, and it's hard to have a
real life when you're constantly looking over your shoulder for fear that
someone is going to stab you in the back… literally. We deal with it, of
course we do. It's not like we have much choice in the first place. You
think high school is bad? I'm sure it is, but this is beyond any squabbles
with friends, vicious lies and gossip. The kind of treachery and
backstabbing that is common to our lives is the kind that will get you
killed. Besides, your worries aren't just exclusive to ordinary high schools
either. We have to deal with it too. Despite the obvious differences –
compulsory martial arts training, learning how to hack even the most
secure databases, and spending time diffusing bombs among other
things - it's still a high school. What did you expect?
If that wasn't enough, there's still the whole business of The Administration
and The Faculty. Assuming you manage to make it to graduation, one of
these groups is there, just waiting to snap you up. As for which side is
better, let's not quibble, but I would give you this warning, you most
definitely do not want to get on the bad side of The Administration.
Making it in this school isn't easy. And there's the outside world to contend
with too. Because, everyone's just waiting to watch you fall.
